Provincial Agriculturist Japhet Masculino said crop losses affected 811 farmers tilling a total of 9,058 hectares in 18 villages of Bago City, considered the rice granary of the province.

Bago produces about 25 percent of the province’s rice output.

The rains, enhanced by Typhoon Hannah, flooded farms where most of the rice were ready for harvest.

Earlier, the OPA also reported P19 million worth of crop damage from heavy rains and flooding caused by rains brought by tropical depression Falcon.

It affected 1,636 farmers planting 2,580 ha with rice and corn in 61 barangays of seven localities.
