BACOLOD CITY – Strong winds uprooted a mango tree which fell on a house of a couple who suffered minor injuries at Brgy. Paloma, Valladolid, Negros Occidental on August 8.
According to Mark Cabrillos, staff from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Mdrrmo), the couple was at home when strong winds believed to be a tornado hit the said village.
Cabrillos said the couple was able to crawl out from their damaged house after rescuers cut the uprooted mango tree.
Cabrillos said the municipal government already extended assistance to the affected household.
Meanwhile, strong winds also hit the villages of Poblacion and La Caron in the said town. Two other trees also fell on the streets, but no injuries were reported and rescuers immediately conducted clearing operation.
