The Intramuros Administration bared that they will establish “Hawkers Plaza” for street vendors who were displaced by clearing operations in Manila.
The administration said the displaced vendors were already transferred to Postigo parking lot near the Commission on Elections in the walled city of Manila.
“They have been properly given notice and volunteered to relocate to their new location. In the long term, a Hawkers Plaza will be made for the permanent location of the vendors,” the Intramuros Administration said.
This initiative is in line with the directives of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to clear public areas from obstructions.
Plaza de Santo Tomas, which houses the monuments of Miguel de Benavides and the Alumni of the University of Santo Tomas in the Congress of Malolos in 1898, is now cleared from obstructions.
