Boat carrying Chinese tourists capsizes in Boracay

Iloilo City—A boat carrying Chinese tourists capsized off the coast of world-famous Boracay Island in Malay town, Aklan province Thursday.

According to the incident report from the Malay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the 17 Chinese tourists were on board the boat Thursday afternoon in the Bolabog Beach or the resort island’s back beach when the incident occurred.

The tourist boat MBCA LMJ III was hit by a service boat and the collision caused the boat to capsize.

The Chinese tourists and the crew were immediately rescued and were taken to Ciriaco Tirol Memorial Hospital that is located in Boracay.

Based on the incident report, 12 Chinese tourists sustained minor injuries while the five other Chinese tourists did not have any injury.

The incident report did not name the Chinese tourists involved in the accident.
