Retired general appointed to MWSS board; other new officials named

A retired military general was among several new government officials appointed by President Duterte.

Retired Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Salamat, former Armed Forces North Luzon command chief, was appointed member of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) board of trustees. Duterte had earlier said he would appoint Salamat as the next MWSS administrator.

The President has also reappointed former MWSS administrator Reynaldo Velasco as member of the MWSS board of trustees. He also moved MWSS chairman Franklin Demonteverde to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) based on his appointment paper signed last July29. Demonteverde, a retired judge, will serve as JBC member representing the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

In the list of presidential appointees released by the Palace, Duterte also designated businessman Peter Wallace as member of the Ease of Doing Business and Anti-Red Tape Council, representing the private sector.

Other new appointees are Juliana Sunga, Undersecretary of Department of Justice; Antonio Bautista, Assistant Secretary of the Department of National Defense; FerdausiBerna, Director IV of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples; Lorna Tobias, Director II of the Bureau of Internal Revenue; Napoleon Arevalo, Director IV of Department of Health; and Manuel Jose Maria Tuason, Director III of the National Security Council.

Duterte also appointed Rodrigo Aguilar, Director III of the Department of Trade and Industry; LoidaLinson, Director IV of the Department of the Interior and Local Government; Septondela Cruz, Director III of the Commission on Higher Education; and Roy Buenafe and Marion Sevilla, Directors III of the Department of Labor and Employment.
