Classes at the Nuevabida National High School M’lang Cotabato were suspended due to a 3.4-magnitude earthquake Wednesday morning.

At least 800 students were sent home because of the temblor and fear of aftershocks.

The town’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer, Bernardo Tayong said the school administrators cancelled classes around 9 a.m. after the earthquake.

Tayong said that at least 14 classrooms of Nuevabida National High School were no longer safe to use due to cracks in the walls and floors.

The covered court of the school served as makeshift learning shelters because the classrooms were declared unfit for use due to cracks and damages caused by a 5.6-magnitude earthquake last July 10.
