Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Tuesday assured her administration is up to the task of ensuring the speedy and efficient release of clearances and permits as called for by President Duterte during his fourth State-of-The-Nation Address (SONA).
In supporting the President’s order, Belmonte said the maximum three day release of these clearances and permits will end the public’s need to rely on fixers and rogue local employees to secure these requirements.
She also gave a standing order for city hall personnel not to demand or accept grease money or bribes from the public for the release of any public document.
Belmonte clarified that the three-day release of permits and clearances will only happen if the lawful documentations and other similar requirements are met by the applicants.
She appealed to the public to report any city hall employee purposely delaying or giving them the run-around before they can secure the release of their permits and clearances.
The city mayor also noted that all other corrupt acts, even insinuations of extortion or unethical practices committed by her subordinates will merit appropriate and the most severe sanctions.
Belmonte noted the target to release business permits for low-risk businesses within two days is encompassed in her 14-point agenda.
For businesses of high magnitude, Belmonte explained that permits may be released within a week to allow them a more extensive and broader review of all documents.
She assured that the permits for these big businesses will be released at the soonest time possible if all the requirements are in order.
Through the ease of doing business policy in her administration, Belmonte assured that both local and foreign investors will be enticed to consider putting up their firms in a business-friendly environment like Quezon City.
