Investigators of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the victim as Ruel Malagueño, a 46-year-old jeepney driver and the vice president of Metro Manila Jeepney Operators and Drivers – Stop and Go Association.

Initial report showed that Malagueño was driving his jeepney towards the terminal in front of a mall at North Avenue at around 8:30 p.m., when one of two passengers still onboard the PUJ came up to him and shot him twice in the head.

The gunman immediately left, and rode a nearby motorcycle driven by a cohort.

Meanwhile, Malagueño’s jeepney lost control and hit a UV Express in front of him.

Malagueño died on the spot due to gunshot wounds in the back of his head and nape.

According to Malagueño’s wife, her husband started to receive death threats through text messages since he was elected as vice president of the association.

Police said the incident seemed to have been “well planned-out.”

Further investigation is ongoing to identify the gunmen and to establish the motive behind the incident.
