The Southern Police District (SPD) has sent 450 of its personnel to Quezon City to help in securing the 4th State of the Nation Address of President Duterte.
SPD director Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz said their Civil Disturbance Management contingent came from seven police units and will be deployed in Litex area in Quezon City.
“All SPD personnel were reminded of maximum tolerance and respect for human rights during the entire event towards protesters and to leave only their post upon the lifting of orders from higher office,” said Cruz.
The 450 SPD-CDM contingent, led by Police Lt. Col. Ruvenar Ecalner, gathered at the SPD Parade Ground at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City as early as 2 a.m.
“The primary objective of this activity is to intensify security and to preserve the peace and order during the SONA,” said Cruz.
He added that a number of policemen were also placed on standby at their headquarters while police stations were also tasked to mobilize standby forces for any eventuality.
