Seven road sections in Cordillera Administrative Region were closed to traffic Thursday due to landslide and other unsafe road conditions as heavy rains brought about by tropical storm “Falcon” hit some parts of Luzon.

Roads leading to Baguio City like Kennon Road and Baguio-Bontoc Road were ordered close due to unsafe conditions and road cut, respectively.

In an advisory, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) advised motorists to instead take Marcos Highway, Baguio-Bauang Road, or Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road.

Motorists may also take Nacagang-Abatan, Bauko, Maba-ay Provincial Road instead of Baguio-Bontoc Road.

A section of Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road in Barangay Madduang, Kabugao, Apayao was also not passable as of Thursday due to landslide. Clearing operations for the reopening of the road was underway on the same day, the DPWH said.

Another section of the Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road in Namaltugan, Calanasan, Apayao was not passable due to erosion. Soil erosion also caused the closure of a section of Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road in Kabuwagan, Calanasan, Apayao.

A section of the Governor Bado Dangwa National Road in Mogao, Gambang, Bakun, Benguet, was also closed due to road slip. Embankment works are being implemented on the section but was hampered by the weather condition.

The Matteled section of Tabuk-Banaue Road in Duplingan, Tanudan, Kalinga was closed due to soil erosion. Clearing operations were on hold as of Thursday afternoon due to continuous downpour. Cugal-Gombuwoy Provincial Road is the designated alternate route.

Meanwhile, all national roads in Regions I, II, III, IV-A, X, and National Capital Region are passable to all types of vehicles as of Thursday.
