Western Visayas is the most disaster resilient region in the Philippines, according to a Harvard study.
The survey was conducted by Harvard Humanitarians Initiative’s (HHI) Program on Resilient Communities (PRC) in 2017.
Western Visayas was followed by Ilocos, Eastern Visayas, MIMAROPA (Mindoro-Marinduque-Romblon-Palawan), Bicol, Caraga, Cagayan Valley, and Davao.
Regions with the lowest rates of disaster resilience include Zamboangas Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Central Visayas.
The disaster resilience result was measured by preparedness, adaptability, coping, and recovery.
A total 4,368 Filipino adults responded to the survey nationwide.
