The interviews started July 8. It will be a follow up to the quarterly Labor Force Survey (LFS) for July 2019.

PSA-7 regional director Ariel Florendo encouraged national and local government agencies especially the Barangay officials to extend support for the success of this very important undertaking.

Florendo explained that the APIS will provide non-income poverty indicators that can be used for assessment of the Filipino family’s living conditions. It is also used as inputs to the Multi-dimensional Poverty Index.

The survey generates information on the demographic characteristics, education, economic, housing characteristics, access to safe water supply and sanitation, expenditure and income of the families, and other information that can be used to assess and monitor the poverty situation in the country, Florendo said.

The information collected will be used for statistical purposes as basis for government planners and decision-makers and the report aims to provide inputs to planning, assessment, and evaluation of the various programs designed to reduce poverty incidence in the country, Florendo said.

According to Florendo computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) will be implemented for both the LFS and APIS. Rider questions on the awareness of the Philippine Competition Commission (PPC) and the Philippine Competition Act was also added in this round of LFS. These are to be asked to the respondent only.
