LTFRB Regional Office Director Richard Osmeña said 105 P2P buses will hit the road beginning July 12.

Osmeña said the P2P units will be launched today, Thursday, as part of LTFRB’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) Simultaneous Nationwide Launch.

The LTFRB will also introduce 385 taxis and 165 jeepneys that are air-conditioned and equipped with Wi-Fi and automated fare collection system.

“This launch is simultaneous and I am proud and happy to say that this will be the biggest nationwide,” Osmeña said during a press conference.

The modernized PUVs can be accessed at property giant Megaworld’s Transport Hub located within its 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao District.

During the pilot run, the buses will ply the routes of Iloilo City Business Park, the main hub, to Caticlan Airport, Kalibo Airport, and Iloilo Airport, and vice-versa.

Arnie Batac, Megaworld’s head for Estate Management, said the township giant invested P350 million to build the state-of-the-art transport hub to “serve the requirements of the first premium P2P bus services in Western Visayas.”

The Iloilo Business Park Transport Hub will have two terminals — one for departures and one for arrivals — located along Megaworld Boulevard in front of the Festive Walk Mall.

Each terminal on a 4,000-square meter lot each, will feature its own Traveler’s Lounge, an air-conditioned facility with a Food Park, free Wi-Fi access, breastfeeding stations, and shower rooms and toilets.
