A new low pressure (LPA) was spotted off Zamboanga Del Sur that will bring rainshowers and thunderstorms over Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
Meanwhile, the LPA being monitored earlier by PAGASA near General Santos City had already dissipated.
PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said the new LPA was found 40 kilometers east of Zamboanga City in Zamboanga del Sur on Friday morning.
According to Quitlong, the weather disturbance was unlikely to develop into a tropical depression and may also dissipate in the coming days.
However, the LPA will still bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro, Northern Mindanao, and SOCCSKSARGEN.
In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers will prevail due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned residents affected by the LPA and thunderstorms on possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
