Human rights lawyer Chel Diokno scored Senator Bato dela Rosa after the latter dismissed the death of a toddler in a sting operation as mere collateral damage.
Dela Rosa, in a press conference Thursday, was asked about the death of Myka Ulpina, the three-year-old kid who was killed in an anti-narcotics operation in Rizal province.
“Sa rules of engagement, dapat wala talagang madadamay pero we live in an imperfect world. Sh*t happens during operations,” Dela Rosa told the press.
Diokno, for his part, said he stood with Myka’s family and their search for justice.
“No, Sen. Bato, this is not ‘sh*t happens’,” Diokno said on Twitter.
Diokno underscored that what happened with Myka was a result of the government dispensing “justice from guns instead of courts.”
“Those responsible can never wash their guilt away. Their day of reckoning will come,” the human rights lawyer said.
