The two are public markets that are usually filled with trash and crowded by vendors and shoppers alike, but today, citizens saw a different face of Divisoria and Carriedo after the mayor asked for a 48-hour clearing and obstruction operation.

"Kala mo nasa Ayala ka lang." a netizen wrote on his Facebook after visiting Tutuban this morning.

Moreno initially said that he would 'move heaven and earth' in order to clean up Manila.

Police personnel and fire volunteers helped in the clearing operations.

The first-term mayor also vowed to preserve Arroceros Forest Park dubbed as "Manila's last lung", Manila Zoo and to revive Escolta, Manila Bay and Intramuros.
