The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s (TESDA) scholarship program initiative, “Tsuper Iskolar,” together with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), takes off in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Following its launch in Pangasinan and Davao, TESDA and DOTr have gathered at least 800 beneficiaries at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City, along with 50 transportation service cooperatives and corporations.
“Our training institutions with registered programs in TESDA NCR will provide training on various skills which include qualifications from the metals and engineering sector, electrical and electronics sector, tourism, garments and textiles, automotive and information and communications technology (ICT) sectors, among others,” TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña said.
The program was initiated to facilitate the Stakeholder Support Mechanism Component of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), which aims to provide skills training and development to transport industry stakeholders.
A memorandum of agreement was signed by DOTr and TESDA last December 11to support the partnership.
Tsuper Iskolar has also been launched in Misamis Oriental, Zamboanga Del Norte, and Kalinga.
TESDA’s Scholarships Management Division (SMD) lists 911 slots for Tsuper Iskolar in Region I.
Among the qualifications offered are: Heavy Equipment Operation (Forklift) NC II, Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II, Food and Beverage Services NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II, and Housekeeping NC II.
Slots were also provided for Caregiving NC II, Driving NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Beauty Care
Services NC II, and Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II.
The Tsuper Iskolar for Central Visayas will be launched in July.
