BACOOR – Bacoor came alive in the final quarter to stop Caloocan, 67-60, and win the Metro League Reinforced Conference title at the STRIKE Gym on Saturday.
Appearing to be on track of losing the best-of-three finals decider at home after trailing by four after three quarters, the Strike turned on the jets in the final quarter, outscoring the Supremos, 24-13, to complete the comeback.
Mark Montuano made 18 points and 10 rebounds for Bacoor, which despite missing out on completing a perfect run after losing Game 2 last week on the road still walked away with the title in only its first conference in the league pitting teams from Mega Manila.
King Descamento added 13 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and one steal, while Prince Orizu chipped in 11 points, 13 rebounds, one block, and one steal.
Eric Acuna just missed out on his own double-double as he had 12 assists and nine rebounds with four points and two steals.
Robbi Darang made 13 markers, six boards, one dime, and two steals for Caloocan, which failed to duplicate its U17 squad’s title-clinching win earlier Saturday at Bacoor’s expense.
Abdoulaye Niang chipped in 12 markers, 17 caroms, three dimes, three swats, and one steal.
