The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is adopting the Document Tracking System (DTS) developed by the Department of Science and Technology-Region I (DOST-I), a move formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) inked by the two agencies on 25 May 2019.
The BOC is an agency under the Department of Finance.
The DOST-developed DTS is an electronic system for the management and monitoring of documents assigned to specific persons and/or offices within the organization.
The signed MOU details the duties and responsibilities of both parties. According to the memorandum, DOST-I will be installing the software at the BOC central office and will conduct orientation and technical training on the maintenance and usage of the software.
The BOC, on the other hand, will provide the recommended software, hardware, and internet/intranet requirements of the DOST-I DTS. The BOC will also conduct user evaluation and assessment to further improve the system.
The BOC was represented by Rodolfo Arzaga Jr., BOC director for Planning and Systems Development Service, while the DOST-I was represented by DOST-I Regional Director Dr. Armando Q. Ganal. Witnesses to the signing are Usec. Brenda L. Nazareth-Manzano of the DOST Regional Operations; Atty. Jasmin C. Bañez, assistant regional director for DOST-I Finance and Administration Services; and Science Research Specialist II and DOST-I MIS Unit Head Michael John C. Maquiling. (By Florde Liza L.
