2,400 kilos of explosive materials seized; 2 held

PAGBILAO, Quezon– About 2,400 kilos of explosives ingredients and 500 blasting caps were seized and two persons were arrested at police checkpoints around the city Wednesday.

Lt. Col. Arnulfo Selencio, 1st Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company (QPMFC) commander, identified the arrested persons were Noel Dela Cruz Clarianes, 57, of Colong-colong, Caramoan, Camarines Norte, and Mark Romell Pabillar Deligente, 28, Barangay Alupaye, here.

Clarianes was arrested first as he waited for a bus ride to Bicol. An inspection of his belongings yielded 200 improvised blasting caps with detonating cord and 150 kilos of ammonium nitrate.

An hour later Deligente was arrested at a checkpoint in Barangay Talipan, this town, after his van was pulled over.

Found in his possession were 2,250 kilos of ammonium nitrate and 300 improvised blasting caps.

The two were under the custody of 1st QPMFC while preparing for their transfer to the Pagbilao custodial facility.

They will be charged with illegal possession of explosives. (Danny Estacio)
