She may or she may not.

Three years into her term, Robredo has not made up her mind on whether or not she will pursue the highest elective post.

“Lahat naman posible. Lahat posible dahil iyon nga, iyong history pinakita na—ako, hindi ko naman pinlano kahit ano, eh,” she said in a media interview.

(Anything is possible. Anything is possible because history had shown that — I, myself, did not plan anything.)

Robredo, who is the chairperson of the opposition Liberal Party, noted that the presidency is “destiny” that no one can ever be prepared for.

“Tingin ko kasi iyong presidency, ano iyon, destiny. Kahit anong paghahanda mo, kung hindi iyon para sa iyo, hindi talaga para sa iyo,” she said.

(I think the presidency is a matter of destiny. Whatever your preparations are, if it is not meant to be, it is not meant for you.)

The Vice President was responding to media questions on the sidelines of the first general assembly of Bunyog Banwaan held in Naga City.

She was asked if her public appearance at the event was part of her preparations for the 2022 presidential bid.

The Bunyog Bawaan or Pagkakaisa ng Bayan is a regional political movement based in Bicol that aims to unify all Bicolanos and their friends and allies.

It is composed of individual volunteers and groups formed for the “Otso Diretso” slate during the last midterm elections.

Robredo, the opposition leader, again passed up on thoughts about the 2022 presidential race because she has much work to do in her office.

The Vice President specifically mentioned her flagship anti-poverty program, Angat Buhay, as her reason.

“Kapag pagkandidato ng 2022 ang aking iniisip, iyong lahat na gagawin ko, pulitika na at masisira iyong programa namin,” Robredo said.

(If I think of my candidacy in 2022, everything I do is about politics, our program will be ruined.)

“So dapat iyong iniisip iyong ngayon, papaano makakatulong, papaano pagbubutihin. Kung after three years na bumuti iyong sitwasyon, bakit hindi? Pero ngayon, useless talaga na paghandaan iyon,” she added.

(So what we should be thinking now is how to help, how to improve. If after three years the situation gets better, why not? But for now, it is useless to prepare for that.)
