Police seized on Wednesday more than P7 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust in a hotel in Caloocan City where an 18-year old trusted man of a criminal syndicate leader was arrested.
Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the confiscated shabu were inside 10 plastic sachets, each sachet contains 100 grams each.
He identified the arrested suspect as Jaymark Mercene, 18, reportedly a trusted man of a certain Edgardo Mongado Co who leads a criminal gang engaged in the illegal drugs trade.
“The operations of Mongado’s group cover Pasay City, Makati City and some parts of Rizal and Cavite provinces,” said Eleazar.
Eleazar said his men mapped out a buy-bust after a police asset was able to transact for one kilo of shabu for P1.2 million.
The deal, according to Eleazar, was supposed to happen at Caltex gasoline station on a service road in Pasay City but the suspect changed the venue and finally set the transaction at Marsman Hotel in Caloocan City.
The arrest was announced after the suspect received the 12 bundles of boodle money, each with real P1,000 marked bill. Also seized was another transparent plastic sachet containing more or less 50 grams of shabu.
Appropriate criminal charges are now being readied against the arrested suspect, according to Eleazar.
