In celebration of the 158th birth anniversary of national hero Jose Rizal, Google has created a special doodle for the occasion.
The doodle features Rizal along with a quill pen, an excerpt from his novels and a magnifying glass to represent his occupation as an ophthalmologist.
"Today, Rizal is remembered as a Filipino national hero whose expression of love and devotion for his nation in his novels, essays, and articles inspired a revolution," the search engine said.
This was the first time Google created a doodle to commemorate the national hero's birthday.
Rizal produced some of the most important literature for Filipinos -- the “Noli Me Tangere” and the “El Filibusterismo.”
Google also included in its press statement a summary of Rizal's life and achievements.
