Nearly 3,000 jobseekers were hired on the spot during the nationwide job and business fairs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) last Independence Day.
Out of the 21,722 applicants who went to 22 “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” job and business fair sites, DOLE said a total of 2, 818 jobseekers were hired on the spot.
On the other hand, there were 9, 327 “near-hire” or applicants who need to submit additional requirements or may need to attend further interviews, or take tests.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III expressed his gratitude to employers who participated in the event.
“[I] thanked the 560 participating employers, which offered 68,893 local and overseas jobs, for taking part in the nationwide job fair,” he said. “[It’s] a testament to their commitment to the continuing efforts of our government to give our Filipinos decent and productive jobs.”
