Manila Bulletin (MB) announced its partnership with the Intramuros Administration (IA) for the “We Are Intramuros Music Festival” during a contract signing between MB and IA last June 7 at the Palacio del Gobernador in Intramuros, Manila.
Present at the contract signing were IA Administrator lawyer Guiller Asido, MB Executive Vice President Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr., MB Brand and Marketing Manager Francis Mark Dy, and IA Sales and Promo Supervisor Sheena Anjeli Botiwey.
The music festival, to be held June 12, coincides with the celebration of the 121st-anniversary celebration of Philippine independence and the 40th anniversary of the Intramuros Administration.
The music festival will be from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Puerta Real Gardens in Intramuros, Manila, and is free of charge.
“What is special about this music festival is that most of the bands that will be performing are from universities inside Intramuros or started here in Intramuros,” said Asido.
For Manila Bulletin, whose headquarters is located in the Walled City, the music festival is part of its commitment to support Filipino heritage.
“Manila Bulletin has always believed in the primacy of this area in the history of our country,” said Coloma. “And since the history of our newspaper is closely intertwined with the history of Philippine progress, we believe that we should preserve the Filipino heritage that is richly present in all nooks and crannies and corners of Intramuros,” he added.
The music festival forms part of a lineup of activities on June 12 which include film screenings, bike tours, photo walks, and an arts and crafts bazaar.
The activities aim to encourage involvement in community-led efforts to revitalize and promote Intramuros as a prime space in creative urban heritage.
