Tragic death of father, daughter in La Union fire

ARINGAY, La Union – A father and his six-year-old daughter were killed in a tragic fire incident that razed three residences in Barangay Sta. Rita East here, Tuesday.

Police Major Silverio Ordinado, Jr., La Union police information officer, identified the victims as Jeffry Estoril, 36, and his daughter Cyril Jane.

According to the Aringay police, the fire started at about 3:20 p.m. at the house of Domingo Mangaong, father-in-law of Estoril.

It was learned that Estoril, upon learning that Cyril Jane could be trapped inside the blaze, went inside the burning house to look for his daughter.

But he failed to locate her, and when he finally managed to get out, he already sustained second degree burns all over his body.

He was immediately taken to the La Union Medical Center in Agoo, La Union but was declared dead on-arrival.

It was also learned after the fire was placed under control at 5 p.m. that Cyril Jane perished in the fire.

Families and relatives grieved for the death Cyril Jane, who had just graduated from kindergarten last April.
