The Philippine Consul General in Toronto, Rosalita Sayoc Prospero, passed away Tuesday morning.
According to the Consulate’s statement late Tuesday, Prospero’s remains will be brought back to the country, “in accordance with her wishes.”
No further details were disclosed regarding her death.
Prospero served as Consul General of the Philippines in Toronto since May 24, 2015. She had previous diplomatic postings in Sydney and Paris.
Prior to that, she served as Executive Director of the Office of American Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
“She was a career diplomat who dedicated her life in the service of our country and its people,” the statement read.
The details of her wake have yet to be disclosed.
