The Cagayan Second District Engineering Office (DEO) completed the concreting of roads leading to trade, industrial, and economic zones within the congressional district at a cost of P300 million.

District Engineer Lorna B. Asuten said 12 gravel roads in different municipalities were paved.
In the municipality of Piat, roads were paved in and along Cagayan State University (CSU) – Piat Campus Road (1 kilometer); in Sitio Gadut (1.63 km); Sitio Malasat (0.80 km); Villa Pagasa (1 km); Villarey (1.60 km); and along Junction Cagayan Valley Road (CVR)-Sto.Niño-Piat Road (0.40 km which leads to sugar mills in town.
In Abulug town, a 1.8-km road leading to a squash noodles processing area, and another 1.6-km road to a Dragon Fruit plantation area were.
Also concreted was a 2-km access road to a cacao plantation area in the town of Sanchez Mira.
Access roads in the coastal town of Calayan Island were also paved. It included the roads to a coconut food processing area in Paca-Binubungan and Pacac-Dalayap-San Juan-Tubel, and the road to an agricultural and aquatic production area.
“Through this project, local traders and small scale entrepreneurs will be able to promote and market their products with faster mobility. It will also be easier for them to buy the materials they need for their business,” Asuten said.
