MALVAR, Batangas — Three of the four suspects of a gas station robbery incident in Lipa City were cornered and killed by authorities Saturday.

A report from Batangas Police Provincial Office (BPPO) identified the slain suspects as Ponciano Raul Leynes, 54, of Lipa City, Leoncio Morada, 59, from Padre Garcia, Batangas, and one who remained unidentified.

One of the suspects was able to escape from the authorities.

A report said that the suspects were chased by operatives of Lipa City Police after they robbed a Shell gasoline station in Barangay Bugtong, Lipa City and then fled towards Malvar town at around 12:50 a.m.

The suspects sped off and even escaped the police checkpoint in Malvar prompting the local police to chase after them.

Operatives from Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and Lipa City Police who happened to have an anti-illegal drugs operation also joined the chasing team until they cornered the armed suspects in Barangay Luta Sur where the encounter ensued.

Accordingly, the suspects were cohorts of one Reymises Vivar Fernandez alias Mise, a member of the Lat Crime Group which is involved in the robbery and gun-for-hire activities in Laguna and Batangas provinces.

Police recovered at the crime scene three cal.45 pistols with magazines and ammunition; and two motorcycles.
