Oscar “Oca” Malapitan was proclaimed as Caloocan city mayor after more than 32 hours of canvassing.
Malapitan garnered 428,954 votes or 90 percent of the total votes against four other candidates.
The canvassing session was adjourned twice as the board of canvassers had to wait for vote counting machine (VCM) SD cards to be delivered and uploaded.
During the campaign period, Malapitan vowed to help the national government and build a new hall of justice and new city jail.
Oca was proclaimed alongside Maca Asistio who ran unopposed as vice mayor.
Meanwhile, Along Malapitan and Egay Erice were proclaimed as the city’s representatives.
