PNP deploys more than 3,000 personnel to secure polls in southern Metro Manila

To ensure safe and secure elections on Monday, the Southern Police District will be deploying more than 3,000 police personnel across the 317 barangays in the southern metropolis area.

SPD District Director, Police Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz, deployed his troops in a traditional send-off ceremony held at the Southern Police District Parade Ground, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on Friday.

A total of 3,705 PNP personnel will be deployed, 1,067 at the polling centers, 406 in canvassing area, 165 route security, 97 demac/semac, 125 covert security,1,075 for anti criminality, 317 for the rapid deployment, 270 CDM and 288 reserved force ready for deployment on orders.

This deployment is dedicated solely to ensure the successful exercise of right to suffrage of the 2,206,488 registered voters living in the 317 barangays in the southern metropolis area.

Relatedly, 10 teams composed of 140 PNP personnel were also deployed for anti-vote buying/selling of vote which started on May 6 until the duration of the election period. Likewise, Red teams will be deployed to be led by no less than the members of the SPD Command Group.

Earlier, the election officers of the different cities and lone municipality under the SPD expressed their wholehearted thanks to Cruz and to the officers and men of SPD who will be taking part in the security coverage to ensure the success of the electoral process.

The District Director on the other hand reminded everyone to perform their tasks with a high degree of efficiency and professionalism.

Though Cruz was optimistic that the SPD personnel will perform their mandated tasks by the COMELEC, he still reiterated to them the need to remain steadfast and be extra vigilant against all forms of lawless especially on this crucial time that the PNP is the frontliner against lawlessness and disorder.
