Perete assumes as acting mayor of Daraga

DARAGA, Albay - For the second time this year, Vice Mayor Victor Perete assumed as acting mayor of Daraga on Friday, following the surrender of mayor Carlwyn Baldo to the Regional Trial Court (RTC Branch 10) to face murder and frustrated murder charges.

"In view of the above and taking into the account the reports from PNP-CIDG and MPS Daraga stating that Mayor Carlwyn Baldo is under detention and is thus, temporarily incapacitated to perform the duties of his office, immediately upon receipt or tender of the Memorandum, you may already assume as acting Mayor of your Municipality in accordance with Sec. 46(a) of Republic Act 7160," the memorandum issued by lawyer Anthony Nuyda, regional director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bicol dated May 10, 2019 directed Perete.

Perete assumed post around 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the DILG regional office in Legazpi City.

Perete was accompanied by Councilor Jungie Jaucian who assumed the post of Vice Mayor.
