The Department of Justice (DOJ) has vowed to look into the latest matrix presented by Malacanang which showed that members of the opposition have been conspiring with other groups to discredit the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte and boost the chances of opposition bets in the May 13 polls.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said the DOJ will make this determination before referring this to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for the conduct of an investigation.
“The DOJ will study this further to determine if there is enough factual basis to refer this new matrix to the NBI for investigation,” he told reporters.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo Wednesday (May 8) unveiled Malacanang’s latest matrix which tagged the Magdalo group of conspiring with other personalities allied with the Liberal Party, as well as with other personalities already named in another matrix that was presented last month.
“The President has received intelligence information that shows there is a deliberate conspiracy between certain groups to discredit this administration for purposes of this election,” he said.
“And the groups, according to this intelligence information, seem to be the Liberal Party, the yellows, Magdalos, and the media outfits, as well as the organizations indicated in the matrix presented to you the other week,” he added.
