Emilen M. Balatbat, who is currently the acting chief of PAL/PSI Assessment Composite Division of the Bureau of Customs at the NAIA, yesterday expressed her thanks to her mentors and colleagues who “gave me all the wisdom and training to empower me with skills in my career.”
Balatbat has served 24 commissioners and 19 district collectors.
Ms. Balatbat, who represented a group of Customs employees who will retire this month, has worked in the bureau for 44 years. She will retire on May 21.
“My entire career was focused on assessment to help the Port of NAIA meet its revenue target,” she said, reminiscing her long hours of work which sometimes started at 3 a.m. when she had to be at her post to catch the early arrival of flights.
She said: “My whole career was spent in NAIA only, for straight 44 years. I was also being considered to be assigned in other ports but I requested to serve only at the NAIA until this year of my retirement.”
“Thank you, Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, for this chance…this opportunity to share my gratitude to BOC and all BOC employees,” she said.
