Former Parañaque mayor Marquez junks son’s running mate

Former Parañaque mayor Joey Marquez has endorsed the ticket of incumbent mayor Edwin Olivarez over the team of his son Jeremy Marquez, who is gunning for the vice mayoral seat, surprising city residents.

In a political rally of Team Bagong Parañaque (TBP) over the weekend, Marquez raised the hand of Olivarez after his speech before the residents of Barangay BF Homes instead of former mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr.

Marquez’s son Jeremy is the running-mate of Bernabe, a mayoral candidate under Lakas-CMD.

Jeremy was former village chairman of Barangay BF in the city and will be going up against incumbent Vice Mayor Rico Golez in the coming elections

Marquez said the supports Olivarez because of the many projects that he has done to uplift the lives of city residents, plus the settling of the P2-billion debt left by the previous administration.

Olivarez is running for his third and last term, while Bernabe who served as city chief executive for three consecutive terms from 2004.
