Visiting the Valugan Boulder Beach in Basco, Batanes has been made easier as an access road leading to the tourist gem was recently completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways said.

A short road section with a budget of P11 million leading to the Valugan Boulder Beach has been completed, according to District Engineer Rommel Fabi.

“The completion of this project will make the Valugan Boulder Beach more accessible to the public. This will boost economic and tourism activities in the area,” Fabi said.

“This will also help in the faster delivery of basic goods and services to the residents,” he added.
The project involved the concreting of a road section with a length of 87.5 meters, as well as the construction of drainage and slope protection structures.

DPWH-Batanes District Engineering Office started implemented the P11-million road project last year under the 2018 Regular Infrastructure Program.

Valugan means “east” in Ivatan, the dialect of the locals in the province. The beach is called Valugan because it is located on the east side of Basco.
