Cebu Pacific has canceled 116 domestic flights from May 1-10 affecting close to 60, 000 passengers as part of its "operational recovery" initiative.
This was due to the accrual of various factors ranging from delays in the procurement of plane spare parts to unexpected surges in demand from simultaneous big conferences happening outside Manila.
To avoid more flight delays and worse disruption, CEB decided to cancel flights, mostly from its Manila hub. It has released the latest batch of cancellations the other night.
The aim is to stabilize flight timings, improve on-time performance and reduce inconvenience to passengers.
"Cebu Pacific and Cebgo will be canceling 58 round-trip flights until May 10, 2019," it stated in an advisory on Facebook.
As a consolation, all passengers on CEB'S canceled flights will receive one round-trip travel voucher which they can use for future flights.
Affected passengers can rebook their flights for travel within 30 days from original departure date, free of charge. They can also get a full refund or place the full cost of the ticket in
a Travel Fund.
Another option is to re-route to or from alternate airports for travel within 30 days, subject to availability of seats.
"We are truly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused our passengers," the company said.
Affected passengers may manage their own booking through the "Manage Booking" section of the Cebu Pacific website (https://bit.ly/CEBmanageflight).

Cebu Pacific said it has cancelled several domestic flights due to "unprecedented level of disruption" in their operations the past days.
The airline said it will continue to exhaust all means to inform passengers as early as possible on any flight schedule changes, through the email addresses and mobile numbers provided upon booking.
"To create space in our schedule for operational recovery, minimize rolling delays, and give passengers the chance to make alternate travel plans, we have to temporarily reduce the number of our flights given the current operating conditions, particularly in our Manila hub," it added.
Cebu Pacific recently canceled at least 50 flights that were scheduled on April 28 to 30, 2019.
