Metro League: QC downs Marikina with brilliant second half

Quezon City put up an impressive two-way display in the second half to turn back Marikina, 72-65, in the Metro League Reinforced Conference at the Niagara Industrial Equipment Corporation Gym in Caloocan on Saturday.

The Junior Capitals went for 25 third-quarter points while limiting the Shoelanders to just 13 points in the final frame to take the win.

John Espanola made 19 points, two rebounds, two steals, and two blocks for QC, which moved up to 3-2.

Jeff Comia added 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Both players came off the bench.

Mel Mabigat made 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and four steals for Marikina, but he was accounted for six of the team’s 31 turnovers as the squad fell to dead last in the Northern Division at 1-3.
