A magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit Ilocos Norte at 3 am Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and its epicenter traced seven kilometers southwest of San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, with a depth of 10 km.
Intensity four and three were felt San Nicolas and Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, respectively, while instrumental intensities were recorded at the following places:
Intensity IV
Sinait, Ilocos Sur
Intensity III
Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
Intensity II
Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
No damage and aftershocks are expected from the tremor.
