BSP opens Philpass

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has clearing and settlement operations the day after the 6.1 earthquake hit parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, despite Malacañang’s decision to declare April 23 as a non-working day.

Clearing and settlement via Philpass and cash servicing operations were open but treasury operations – these are trading and settlement -- was closed for the day.

“lt will be a non-reserve day in so far as computing for the reserve position of April 23,” said the BSP. “All reports due may be submitted on April 24 without penalty,” it added. (LCC)
