When it comes to internet experience at home and on the go, PLDT and Smart subscribers are enjoying a much better experience with significantly faster downloads and uploads, seamless video streaming, and lag-free gaming.
This after PLDT and its mobile services arm Smart have solidified their position as the undisputed fixed and mobile networks in the Philippines, respectively, based on a string of independent studies by world-renowned network analytics firms, including Ookla®, OpenSignal, Tutela, and P3.

PLDT is the Philippines' Speedtest Awards Winner for Fixed Network speed during Q3-Q4 2018, based on the latest report by US-based Ookla, the global leader in internet testing and analysis.  To win the award, PLDT achieved a Speed Score of 18.57, with top download speeds of 52.28 Mbps and top upload speeds of 55.95 Mbps, according to 27.2 million user-initiated tests in the country.

On the other hand, Smart is the Philippines’ Speedtest Awards Winner for Mobile Data Network during Q1-Q4 2018 based on the latest report by Ookla. After 2.1 million user-initiated tests on LTE-capable devices, Smart achieved a Speed Score of 15.06, with average download speeds of 17.24 Mbps and average upload speeds of 8.11 Mbps.

Another firm, the UK-based Opensignal, recently announced Smart as the winner of four out of five network awards in the Philippines, posting big leads over its competitor from November 2018 to January 2019. These awards include Best Video Experience, Best Download Speed Experience, Best Upload Speed Experience, and Best Latency Experience. The report noted that for the fifth category on 4G Availability, Smart has surged forward to result in a statistical tie with its rival network.

Smart was also recognized by Canadian crowd-sourced mobile data company Tutela for providing consistent “excellent” quality connections. Smart scored twice as high as its competition in the category, meaning Smart subscribers were twice as likely to experience the “excellent” internet connection needed for streaming high-definition videos seamlessly.

Another recent citation for Smart came from Germany-based P3 communications GmbH, a leader in mobile network benchmarking. Their crowdsource-based study, which included 121 million samples from 104,000 users collected from October to December 2018, found that Smart achieved the highest user download speed score among competitors with 98 points, compared to the 68 points garnered by the nearest competitor.

These network awards from established and independent firms reflect PLDT and Smart’s dedication to provide Filipinos with a world-class internet experience so they can keep up with their increasingly digital lifestyle - whether at home or on the go.
