Iloilo City—Less than a week after three people were killed in a bus crash, another road mishap killed two people in Antique province Tuesday.

Based on an incident report from Police Regional Office (PRO-6), a passenger jeepney carrying 12 people including the driver and conductor crashed into a big mahogany tree in Belison town around 10:30 a.m.

Belison police identified the casualties as passenger Glenn Magalay Adenic and jeepney conductor Jemarvin Leona.

The jeepney was bound for the provincial town of San Jose de Buenavista when the incident happened.

Based on initial investigation of Belison police, it may have been the fault of jeepney driver Glen Leona. Witnesses said Leona tried to overtake another vehicle, but was too fast and the jeep slammed into a mahogany tree along the national road. The driver was the brother of one of the two killed.

Adenic’s child was also injured in the incident. Authorities also found that Adenic and the child were only in Antique for vacation as they now reside in Metro Manila.

Last Friday, a passenger bus fell off a cliff in Hamtic town and killed three people including a fresh graduate and his mother.
