Smartphone brand Vivo first introduced its products in the local market three years ago. Since then, the brand has grown and evolved, and an indication of this is the company’s latest offering, the Vivo V15 Pro. Although it falls under the mid-range category, the Vivo V15 Pro can easily pass as a flagship device with its set of specs and features.
The Vivo V15 Pro joins the hype of smartphones dressed in gradient colors which makes it a smartphone that you’d want to flaunt, not to mention its beautifully-placed triple rear camera setup. Upfront, the device comes with a 6.39-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Ultra FullView display in 2340 x 1080 resolution. The Vivo V15 Pro also achieves a 91.64 percent screen-to-body ratio which further emphasized its large screen. Speaking of which, the Vivo V15 Pro has a pop-up camera, paving the way for a true all-screen display setup.
In terms of its imaging department, the Vivo V15 Pro is a must-have device for users who utilize their smartphones mainly for cameras. The Vivo V15 Pro has three cameras on its rear comprised of a 48-megapixel sensor in f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel sensor in f/2.2 aperture, and a 5-megapixel sensor in f/2.4 aperture -- equipped with artificial intelligence function. Given these, the Vivo V15 Pro takes photos with the right saturation and the right amount of colors not just in well-lit environments but also during the night. Similar to other Vivo smartphones, the Vivo V15 Pro comes with the standard photography modes, but a special feature of its camera lies on its AI functions not just for the face but for the whole body, since the Vivo V15 Pro has an AI slimming mode. For its pop-up 32-megapixel selfie camera, the Vivo V15 Pro also produces natural-looking self portraits which no longer need further editing.
Using the Vivo V15 Pro as our daily driver for a few days went on like a breeze, since its combination of Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset, Adreno 612 GPU, 6GB RAM, and 128GB brought a no-lag experience in switching between various apps and games. Putting it to further testing, the Vivo V15 Pro scored 7734 in the Work 2.0 test of PCMark, and 1157 Sling Shot Extreme Vulkan of 3DMark. For AnTuTu, the device garnered numbers of 177,936 and 524.13 MB/s (read) and 201.53 MB/s (write) for AndroBench.
Despite carrying an average 3,700mAh battery, the Vivo V15 Pro fared well in our video loop test with the following settings: mobile data on, mid volume, max brightness. The Vivo V15 Pro lasted 21 hours and 42 minutes before its juice got drained. In terms of real-life usage, the Vivo V15 Pro required us to refuel its battery once a day, since a full charge of this smartphone can last almost a whole day of moderate to heavy usage.
Other than its special pop-up camera, other notable features of the Vivo V15 Pro is its on-screen fingerprint display which does its job of unlocking the device pretty well.
With its flagship-like specs in a relatively affordable tag, the Vivo V15 Pro is definitely one of the mid-range devices to beat this early 2019. The Vivo V15 Pro has a starting price of P23,999.
