The Philippine Davis Cup team lost its Asia Oceania Group II tie against Thailand Saturday after yielding in the crucial doubles match at The National Tennis Development Center in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Francis Casey Alcantara and Jurence Mendoza succumbed to a more experienced rival in twins Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana, 6-4, 7-5, to virtually hand the Thais the tie win in this best-of-five affair.

Thailand swept Friday’s singles with Jeson Patrombon bowing to Palaphoom Kovapitukted, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, and AJ Lim absorbing a 6-4, 7-5 (4) defeat at the hands of Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul.

With Thailand’s 3-0 tie win, the two reverse singles being played at presstime were rendered dead rubbers.

John Bryan Otico currently battles Kasidit Samrej followed by Lim versus Palaphoom.
