Aboitiz, Metro Pacific build ‘mega’ logistics facility in Cavite


GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite – Work on the South Mega Distribution Center recently kicked off as part of the collaboration between Aboitiz Construction, Inc. (ACI) and Metro Pacific Movers, Inc. (MMI) to build a facility that will facilitate the movement of goods while generating thousands of local jobs.

The construction arm of Aboitiz & Company has forged a partnership with the logistics unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. to construct one of the largest storage and distribution hubs in the country. Aboitiz Construction will prepare the master plan and basic design as well as construct the logistics facility sprawling over 202,000 square meters in barangay Santiago, General Trias, Cavite.

The groundbreaking rites were led by Metro Pacific Investments Corporation Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan and Metro Pacific Movers, Inc. President Jose Ma. Lim. During the ceremony Mr. Pangilinan stated that he was optimistic about the partnership with Aboitiz Construction citing a common interest between the two companies to leverage on each other’s expertise to build vital infrastructure that will improve the movement of goods across the country.

South Mega DC is the first of a series of logistics infrastructure that Aboitiz Construction will build for MetroPac Movers, which also purchased parcels of land with a total combined area of 277,857 square meters in San Rafael, Bulacan for P204,786,038 to house the North Mega DC.

The industrial hubs that will be built in Cavite and Bulacan are to be the anchors of a logistics infrastructure that MetroPac Movers plans to construct nationwide over a period of time to facilitate the movement of goods and serve the company’s existing and potential customers in various industries.

MMI has also engaged the services of DCCD Engineering Corporation as Project Manager for the project. (EVA)
