While the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) favor releasing the list of celebrities with drug links, President Duterte revealed he won’t make the list public plainly because celebrities are not seeking public office, unlike politicians.

PDEA alone has 31 names of celebrities on their list.

“Yung listahan ng mga adik, or drug users, or traffickers, or yung mga artista, hindi ko bitawan yan. Alam mo bakit? Hindi naman sila seeking public office (The list of drug addicts, users, traffickers, or even the celebrities, I will not release that. Why? They are not seeking public office),” he said during a forum in Palawan.

“Kung private persons, mga artista, wala ‘yan (If they are private persons, showbiz personalities, that’s nothing),” he added.
