Various well-meaning groups of accountants and lawyers have expressed their desire to assist taxpayers in the filing of 2018 income tax returns (ITRs) and paying the corresponding taxes by the deadline on April 15.
The first group to extend a helping hand is the Tax Management Association of the Philippines (TMAP), signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the BIR.
TMAP will set up special booths at the Makati and Quezon City revenue regional offices to give assistance to taxpayers filing ITRs.
Officers and members of the group will man the filing centers on April 13 and 15 to help in the rush of taxpayers beating the deadline.
The assistance is limited to answering queries, assisting taxpayers on the proper procedures in filing returns and paying taxes.
TMAP representatives, however, will not accept tax payments or ITRs which are confidential.
