Re-electionist Grace Poe emerged as the top choice of Catholic voters for senator in the May 13 midterm polls based on the Truth Survey conducted by church-run Radyo Veritas.
She was followed by fellow reelectionists Sonny Angara (2nd) and Cynthia Villar (3rd).
Other candidates who made it in the Top 12 are former senator Pia Cayetano (4th), Willie Ong (5th), Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa (6th), Nancy Binay (7th), and Bam Aquino (8th).
Three candidates got same ranking from 9 to 11 namely; Bong Go, Neri Colmenares and Koko Pimentel III.
On the 12th spot is Francis Tolentino.
The candidates who earned the 13th to the 24th spot are Jiggy Manicad (13th), Chel Diokno (14th), Serge Osmena III (15 to 17), Mar Roxas (15 to 17), Lito Lapid (15 to 17), Imee Marcos (18th), Larry Gadon (19th), Juan Ponce Enrile (20 to 21), Romulo Macalintal (20 to 21), Florin Hilbay (22 to 24), Bong Revilla (22 to 24) and JV Ejercito (22 to 24).
The result of the survey was released on the same day that a group of lay leaders from different faith based organizations called People’s Choice Movement, officially declared their support to their chosen 10 senatorial candidates which also include Poe.
The other candidates that earned PCM’s support are former congressman Neri Colmenares, Gary Alejano, Bam Aquino, Chel Diokno, Samira Gutoc, Florin Hilbay, Romy Macalintal, Mar Roxas, and Erin Tañada.
The Truth Survey was conducted from February to March in various parishes nationwide involving 1,200 respondents.
