A Filipina was among those injured in a multiple-vehicle collision in Kazakhstan’s capital city of Astana on March 26, the Philippine Embassy in Moscow said on Wednesday.
In a report, the Embassy said two persons were killed while 27 others –including Jeniffer Francisco Lavapiez – were wounded in an accident involving three buses, two passenger cars, and an ambulance.

After the accident, Lavapiez was able to contact the Philippine Embassy in Moscow through its Facebook page informing that she was among those injured in the mishap.
In turn, the Embassy contacted the Filipina victim who is now said to be in stable condition at a hospital in Astana and is being assisted by her employer.
As a standard procedure, the Embassy is monitoring her situation and is coordinating with its contacts in Kazakhstan in following up with the bus company on their possible support for the victims of the collision.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Kabanbai Batyr Avenue and Uly Dala Street in Astana.
Of the 27 people injured, authorities believe half of them suffered serious injuries.
