A viral video taken by a dash cam captured a speeding sedan hitting a couple riding a motorcycle along Marcos Highway in Pasig Tuesday midnight.

In the footage, the couple can be seen traversing the motorcycle lane when the sedan swerved right to overtake then back left when it hit the motorcycle with its rear left bumper.

This caused the motorcycle driver, Mark Joseph Belen, and rider Rossana Ugto, his live-in partner, to crash uncontrollably.

Mark suffered a fracture in his left foot while Rossana, who hit her head on the pavement, is in coma. They both lost their helmets as they went down.

According to Divina Belen, who introduced herself as Mark’s aunt on Facebook, her nephew fetched Rossana from work in Libis, Quezon City when the incident happened at around 1 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Divina said the motorcycle is obviously running smoothly on the right lane and they suspected that the incident was intentional.

The post has garnered 16,000 reactions and 74,000 shares as of this writing.

Meanwhile, Michelle Mabansay-Belen, Mark’s other aunt, posted a fundraising appeal for the couple.

According to the fundraising site, Rossana will need an operation due to continuous bleeding in her head.

The couple, both confined at Amang Rodriguez Hospital in Marikina, has two children aged three and four.

In a report by GMA News TV, Police Colonel Rizalito Gapas, Pasig City Police Chief, urged the owner of the dashcam footage to coordinate with the police for evidence.

Police have yet to determine if foul play was involved.

Further investigation is still ongoing.
